Mimi and her friends enrich their vocabulary
The program Les aventures de Mimi et ses amis is an innovative approach to early intervention by improving the french vocabulary of preschoolers at risk of potential difficulties.
About
Evidence-based and tested with 300 4-year-old children attending daycare or kindergarten, the program Les Aventures de Mimi et ses amis aims to intervene early with at-risk children to improve their vocabulary and reduce inequalities.
The inequalities observed in language skills between children from different socio-economic backgrounds at the start of kindergarten are sometimes alarming.Yet, these skills are essential for learning to read and for successful integration.
The program Les aventures de Mimi et ses amis is proving to be an effective approach to reducing the vocabulary gap between children from different backgrounds.
Activities
The program Les Aventures de Mimi features 30 storybooks specifically designed, written and illustrated around a corpus of words familiar to children from privileged backgrounds, but unknown to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Each book introduces 5 to 6 words followed by exercises designed to recall, discriminate and generalize new words.

Les Aventures de Mimi is:
1
Thirty captivating stories for young children
2
A proven method for preventing reading difficulties
3
An effective intervention to reduce vocabulary gaps between children from disadvantaged and privileged backgrounds
